Miskin said he sought to write an impactful story that tackles mental health in a realistic and meaningful way while also demonstrating the value of finding community through hockey. His goal for the film was to open up the conversation around mental health and suicide. “The film’s not even out, yet it creates conversation,” he said. “That’s what I wanted.”
